What’s the Standard Floor in a Shipping Container?
Most shipping containers come with:
- A marine-grade plywood floor
- Laid over steel cross members
- Coated with an industrial sealer (often with pesticide or chemical residue)
This factory floor is strong, water-resistant, and designed to hold cargo, but it’s not ideal for long-term occupancy, clean environments, or temperature regulation.
If you're using the container for living, working, or storage of sensitive items, we recommend covering or replacing the factory floor.

3. Industrial or Utility Floor Finishes
